Amara Holdings Limited has roots tracing back to 1928 when Teo Teck Huat founded a building construction business named Teo Teck Huat Contractors. Known for its diverse projects, including the construction of the former Cathay Building, the company completed the 16-story landmark in 1939, once the tallest structure in Singapore.

Initially established as Teo Teck Huat Enterprise (Private) Limited in 1970, the group expanded into building construction and property development.
